Tri-Valley Educational Collaborative

Las Positas College collaborates with key organizations to ensure a strong regional workforce and expand career technical opportunities. One major partnership is TEC—the Tri-Valley Educational Collaborative, comprising the college, business, industry, and educational partners, including the Tri-Valley ROP and the Unified School Districts of Livermore, Pleasanton, and Dublin. Established in 1991, TEC has evolved into a strategic work group of teachers, counselors, school administrators, representatives from other colleges, legislators, business and chamber representatives, and others.

TEC Mission

The mission of the Tri-Valley Educational Collaborative is to ensure that all students learn and apply the academic, thinking, interpersonal skills, and personal qualities to be successful in their life’s work.

Accomplishments through Effective Partnerships

  • TEC has established firm partnerships with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories, and other organizations, facilitating student work-based learning experiences and providing a template for future work.
  • Tri-Valley schools have articulated 23 college courses with Las Positas College, demonstrating that relationships and systems are in place to support articulation of additional classes.
  • The Alameda County Workforce Investment Board plays a key role in providing TEC with labor market data and services to support students as they enter and navigate the workforce.
  • Other partners include Project Lead the Way, Chevron, local education foundations, Innovation Tri-Valley, and cities’ education committees.
