Standard 1: Institutional Mission
Las Positas College (LPC) is guided by a Mission Statement and Philosophy that define its goal as the cultivation of responses to the educational, economic, social and cultural needs of its population. Staff at LPC are generally pleased with the Mission Statement of the College.
The current Mission Statement does not identify the students that the College seeks to serve. The LPC Institutional Planning Committee is reviewing this omission. Review of the mission focuses the attention of the College on the mission, and reveals where revisions may be needed. Because LPC makes decisions through a shared governance system that is guided by the philosophy of the Mission Statement, everyone on campus participates in review and revision.
